One of my favorite AGM models. The small orfice with metering rod setup makes for one of the smoothest starting instant lights I've encountered. Apart from normal cleanup the only thing this one needed was a new air stem made for the pump shaft. This one was missing for what ever reason.
You've got a really great looking lantern there, Toby. AGMs don't turn up in my location. I've neither seen them in the wild nor in flea markets here. Many of their models are certainly some of the best looking lanterns(at least in my opinion) ever made. Is the the metering assembly?:- Whatever it is, it certainly looks very interesting.
@MYN correct. Many call these carb valves... Just a metering rod F/A tube like many early instant lights with the exception that the valve is inline with the metering rod instead of 90 degrees. These founts have a brass fuel line that is soldered in place that runs from the valve bung on the side of the fount and goes up to the generator mounting block I have shown in picture #3. Neat design, but I can see why they would go to the more traditional 90 degree valve setup for ease of build and cheaper too I suspect.
@Toby Garner That’s a very handsome lamp Toby and beautifully fettled, presented and photographed. Naïvely, I’d supposed only a Canadian Coleman 321 Easi-Lite came in blue! John
