@Darryl Durdin Congratulations on this lucky find, I have never seen one “in the flesh”. They look to be complex compared to Tilley and Bialaddin which are familiar to me. I’ll watch your progress with keen interest. Regards, Jeremy
OOh nice ! - they are not so common even in the UK. I have only ever seen one come up for sale on EB, needless to say it went for silly money..
Great Fun. They look amazing when they're alight. The 'globe' will go cherry red and you will probably see flame coming though the perforations. Enjoy!
This was made by Samuel Heath & Sons (Thermidor) and retailed by Veritas. I don't have details for the heater but the main important parts are near identical to the Veritas/Thermidor 303 lantern which is also not a common find so you might find this PDF handy. ::Neil::
@Tony Press . It was shown to me along time ago when I was doing my first Veritas lantern. I see one on eBay UK, so I made contact with the old fella who still had it, for wanting to see it go to a good home we did a deal. @Mackburner thank you Neil for the link. It all seems to be there, pricker and all
That is a great find indeed, you must be chuffed! I just love the globe/mantle/heating element, it definitely adds to the appeal for me. Nice that it came with some history too.
Top find there Darryl. I’m looking forward to your write up and of course, the money shot. Have fun, Cheers Pete
