Here is my Canadian-made Coleman 242B, 6/1962 (mentioned here). Now, starting it was a bit of fun: First attempt with old generator. Then with new (Coleman 201) generator. Then with a test mantle. It's working very well. As it came: NOTE: the 6/62 date of manufacture is the latest in the CPL Reference Gallery. Another tidy little 242B to have as a user. Cheers Tony
I note that in this thread on the Coleman Collectors’ Forum there are two Coleman 242Bs from 1965, the youngest being 9/65. Log In - Coleman Collectors Forum [ @Mackburner ] Cheers Tony
Now, here is a question to Coleman aficionados. What is the correct way to place the collar on a Coleman lantern: 1. With the circular hole facing the control spindle and the key-shaped hole to the pricker control handle; or 2. visa versa? I've looked around and seen it both ways... Tony
@phaedrus42 I thought that was correct. In the photos above it’s on both ways. I settled on the way you indicated. I found this illustration on Doron Papo’s (excellent) website. Cheers Tony
