To make it easy to identify this first timer, I'll be wearing my Fireball XL5 T-shirt, some of you may remember what that is:lol::lol:

    Hi folks

I was supposed to be here for the duration however, family and last minute work commitments I’m going to be a day visitor this year. Looking forward to seeing you all Saturday. Have a great time.

Didn't get chance to write anything yesterday, just wanted to thank everyone I met and spoke to yesterday for the warm welcome I received, on my brief trip to Newark yesterday. It was nice to put some faces to names and to meet other like minded people.
The displays I saw were very impressive, not just quantity but quality and variety too, it was nice to see for real, some of the lamps I'd seen in the books and on here. I can imagine the nightly light ups will be quite spectacular.
I'm now home back in Cornwall and once I've down loaded the pictures from my camera, I'll put them up on here.
Once again thank you for the welcome I received, hope to get there again next year.
    Tim

    Hi John,
Yes good to meet you too, and yes, I saw the Lancaster just after I'd got on the A46 back to the M1. On Saturday, when I stopped at Exeter on the way home, I also saw the BBMF Spitfire and Hurricane, so a very unexpected end to the week seeing all three of them, even though at different times.
Like the pictures really good to see them all alight, really good display, shame I couldn't stay. Like the Tilley CS56 stove, looks really good and the carbide lamp really bright.
Hope you had a good time.
    Tim

Nice pics Pete, they're all good, don't worry about the mix of lamps and stoves, we all like both which is why we collect them, even if we have our preferences.

Despite booking for next year a whole year in advance our normal weekend had already been booked by a large rally & left no room for us. For 2024 only we are a week later than normal. I have agreed a rolling booking with the site for 2025 onward for the usual first weekend after the 2nd May bank holiday. 2025 dates are 31 May to 2 June.

I’m so jealous, wish I could have been there with some of my lamps. Like @Tim Read on my one visit it was so nice to connect faces with names and feel that you already knew them. Great pics boys.

I would like to take this opportunity to say what a wonderful time I had on Saturday at Newark which was very well attended. I spent all day looking at the lamp and stove displays and mor importantly chatting with old friends old and making new ones too.

From Norfolk to Newark and back again in the same day was a 240 mile round trip taking just about 5 hours in total aided and abetted by numerous sections of single carriageway and several lots of roadworks.

The whole experience was totally and utterly worthwhile and I only have two regrets: 1). I wished I had been able to spend a few nights camping and displaying. 2). I had taken some photographs. Hard to believe in 9 hours on site that I never managed to take one!

I would like to thank everyone for making me feel so welcome once again and would especially like to thank Ross for all his continuing hard work, providing us with these marvellous forums and for organising this fantastic event.

I have already submitted my holiday form for the 2024 meet and look forward to seeing everyone there.

    Regards Jeremy

My first time at Newark, great weekend with people to match a wealth of knowledge gathered in one field, if I didn’t meet everyone! My apologies, can’t wait for next year and Ashover in between,

Wow just an amazing amount of lamps and stoves, looks like a dream that was made in heaven.
I do have one question to all those people that displayed lamps, the question is why do I see so many different lamps that are not in the Reference Gallery?
It would be amazing to see more of your lamps in the Reference Galley, so we could see closer shots and more history about your lamps.
    That's my 2'cents worth.
    Thanks.

I had a great time at Newark, just wish I had been there for longer.
So many like minded people and so much beautiful kit on display.
This was my effort at lighting up the field.
