Today's project, a strip down, sand blast and respray of this AL21.

Parts before and after sand blasting. My set up is very basic so not the best results but it did the job.

I wanted a new look so I dug out some heat cured VHT engine paint in black and silver.

You might notice the brass air buttons have been swapped out for these air tubes, I wanted the air buttons for my AL15. Here I haven't yet replaced the heat shield as I used a gloss black that wasn't heat cured.

    Now all complete again.

@ROBBO55 yes I'm pleased with the finish. I'll order decals to finish the look.

It looks a 100% better well done. Are you going to leave it that colour? Or is that undercoat? It's hard to tell on my phone.

@Buggerlugs final colours, although I may add a lacquer coat at the back where it doesn't get as hot.

I love the new look, some decals will really bring it to life.
    Great stuff.

@James K I've just added them. Very difficult on the AL-21 to avoid creases, the AL-15 is a bit more straightforward.

I find a teaspoon handy in flattening them out.

Final touches, 190 mantle and a coating of decal lacquer which seems to have helped smooth the decal a little.
