    This was a good find, but required no fettling! Except for the globe, it’s pretty much as it was in 1943.

    that much i can answer ... I bought it from a fellow in South Africa. Now how it got to South Africa remains a mystery!

    I bought one last year and it came in a Tilley Hospital Box, as illustrated in Ian’s book, the seller told me he’d last used it in Afghanistan in 1975!
    It’s dated 1943 and is in reasonable condition…….
    Does anyone know if Ian keeps in touch with the site?
