Hello all here is my latest full restoration of my PL53, I have changed this from a EX100 to a PL53, which I was told from a very reliable source that the founts are the same. So here are some photos of before and after shots, also the hood, cage and globe are all reproductions I believe its better to have a completed Lamp rather than nothing at all, also the reproductions parts are of top quality, without these parts I wouldn't be able to have a fantastic looking lamp. PL53 are very rare and hard to find in Australia, so I have the next best thing all the other Tilley parts are original and to the same time frame as the original PL53. The steel founts that I have come across in Australia have been silver so we have colour matched the paint to the best of our ability I hope you will enjoy what you see, if not you can always bag me and that's fine too, you know where the inbox is haha.
Excellent job there @Buggerlugs As you stated, better a working lantern than just pieces. I too was lucky enough to find a steel founted PL53 and it’s one of my favourites. I did a full restoration/fettle on it some time ago. See here for the link to the record of the fettle. Tilley Steel PL53 – Fettle Thank you for sharing. Cheers Pete
Hi bugglugs just got one of these it will need a few bits and pieces. I now have about 12 tilley lamps of different models. Yours is looking very smart
@Steve j Thank you very much mate. Good luck with yours as well. It's great to hear that you have 12 different Tilley lamps, maybe your Tilley lamps will continue to breed as has happened to so many members on this Forum. It baffles how this happens.
It is strange how this happens a few pictures a pork pie guardsman and the latest pl53. I have the new hood cage and glass as well as all seals and mantle
