Hello all, here is my latest find and I am very happy indeed. I was lucky enough to come across this magnificent Tilley KL80 Harp Lamp, which seems to be hard to find in Australia these days. As you can imagine I am very excited to have this beautiful lamp in my collection now, that's another lamp off my wish list. I have looked for a date stamp and cannot find one, so I suppose its before 1957 and after 1940 as she has a GF control cock valve. Here are some photos as found. After an easy fettle doing all the necessary steps, she fired up straight away, these old lamps just keep on going isn't it amazing? So here are some money shots. Thanks for looking.
These tanks were not dated except ones made in September 1958 and they were stamped on the side. Not easy to see and as you found yours in Australia, I think there is a good chance yours will be dated. I'd be interested to know.
Great find, @Buggerlugs! Especially as it is complete with all of its components, including the smoke bell and the G7 vitreosil globe. Cheers Tony
Thanks to all for their comments. Yes you know team Buggerlugs can't help themselves. Yes I have looked very closely after reading in another post of yours thanks.
A great find It must have been safely kept away from the elements over the years. Besides Australia, they're not that easy to find elsewhere too.
@ColinG I sure am mate, who wouldn't hay? It all comes down to luck and being in the right place at the right time.
Nice find Brian, looking forward to see the end result when you finish restoring it. That reminds me I will have to put my kl80 in the gallery after fettling it earlier this year. Regards Ian
