Anyone know what this is?

    These seem to pop up every now and then. They look like very close copies of Hasag 351L, but there are always the same differences (reddish fainted plastic handwheel, flat preheater dish outside the cylinder, etc.).
    May I assume that it is from the Baltic states or some where around there? The ones of this kind I saw so far were all from this area. Currently my guess is that they were made in license or they were illegal copies, but not originally made by Hugo Schneider AG or VEB Leipziger Werke.

    Yes, Martin, I bought this one from a fellow in Estonia. It certainly doesn't have the build quality of a HASAG . . . the preheater arrangement is kind of homespun, the control wheel is made of some odd plastic material, and in general it looks like a knockoff. As you well know, the Schneider HASAGs were built like tanks and of good quality materials. This one is painfully bright, though, so what it lacks in appearance it makes up in function.
