Hi fellow tinkerers. Thanks for letting me on the forum. Just thought I'd share some pics of my bowl fire. This paraffin malarkey has me hooked at the moment. My nephew gave me a couple of primus stoves to restore and it got me hooked. I've now got 6 stoves and 2 blow lamps. I was also after a heater of some description for our summer house and came across this bowl fire on the bay and it looked like it needed rescuing. It wasn't overly cheap but I thought I'd give it a try. I didn't know anything about them but I looked them up on Google etc and found this forum for ideas. The vaporizer was choked solid so I bought another to be on the safe side. I cleaned out the tank and valve assy and fitted some temporary seals and away it went. It works a treat. Someone at some point has sanded off all the chrome on the bowl almost back to the brass so I've buffed it as good as I could. These things are proper good and so well made. I then came across an even better one which was a fair bit cheaper and in excellent condition. I'll post some pics later. Cheers.

    Welcome aboard!
The Bialaddin bowl fire tank was originally painted an off white/cream colour and all Bialaddin/Vapalux/Imber Research products were made by Willis & Bates in Halifax, there is paperwork in the library, but it's only open to subscribers.

Already had 2 old stoves which we've had forever. My nephew gave me 2 more to clean up and I've since bought 2 primus 71's, 2 blow lamps and 2 bowl fires.

Thanks for the positive comments. Can't wait to sit in our summer house with my Dad tomorrow after all the snow we've had and keep warm while making a brew on the primus.

Had it lit all afternoon. Made a brew on primus and set about making new fold down table. Got temp from 8 deg to a!most 15. Then had a beer.

Oh dear. Bought another. An older model with the straight handle bracket and a missing grill. Hoping the bowl polishes up nicely. 20240223_184948.jpg 20240223_184943.jpg

20240224_072201.jpg 20240224_072039.jpg 20240224_071742.jpg well. This only arrived last night. Took it out of box for a peek and left it till this morn. I fitted a new leather cup bunged some paraffin in. Gave it a few pumps and soon it squirted me in the head so I shoved the pre heater and burner on and lit the meths. Hey presto. My 3rd bowl fire in a month. Lol. Love these things. Now to strip and service it. Undecided weather to polish or paint the tank. What's your thoughts on subject?.
