Hi fellas, I too have been working on saving another 350 lantern dated 10th month 1951.
It was in poor condition rusted hood and globe frame, the fuel shut off and pick up is soldered into the font. Someone had gone to great lengths to keep this lantern going. I have no idea how long this lantern was last used , it’s a joy to get it going again.

I stripped it down to find out what any issues were revealed. No pricker, valve seal is shot. So nothing major. A dunk test showed no leaks in the soldered in valve fuel pick up, air leak from the flange nut on the on off valve.

the tank,is brass but was tarnished and patches of clear coating so I blasted it back to original brass, also to clean up soldering.
The fuel pickup has an A stamped on it, not sure what it represents.

the air tube assembly, generator all brass cleaned up well.

I set about making a pricker , I record the layout of the burner assembly.

I used 3 small viton O rings on the screw in fuel shaft just like the Tilley cock valve. It works well.

the hood and frame needed to be blasted to clean up the rust, I used UHT aluminium paint it now looks respectable.

I now re assemble my lantern.
There is an A on the collar? No idea why.

my lantern is looking very smart.
In my experience with the Veritas to get them working you need
Long peerless mantle, it better pre heats the length of the vaporiser.
Long pre heat, fill that meth bowl to the brim and let it burn until nearly gone.
The lantern will kick into gear. Very bright light.

As you can see the Veritas 350 is a bright work horse. I do like my Veritas

Darryl, it's cleaned up nicely, congratulations

It's good to see the bail, it's different to others shown in the Reference gallery but I have the same bail on a 350. I thought it was a replacement but apparently not.

Does the fount have a brass or steel bottom?

Nice work Darryl. I wish I could do half as well.

    Re the bails on 350s:
    - some have a small hoop at the top
    - some have a small hoop squeezed at the base of the hoop
    - some have the angled indent as shown on the 350 in this post

    - there is also a captive hook on a P350

    - Superbs have a different style totally

Generally they are made from steel. Is the one in this post steel or brass? Looks like it could be brass.
