    Howdy all,

It's been a while since I have posted here!

I have a 3-300 that I bought several years ago from a company called Lehmans in the US. The lamp worked well until the fine wire pin became stuck in the jet and broke off.

Yesterday I sent an email to Linda at Assoc Kero & Oil Lamps in Australia and she answered immediately!

Unfortunately she told me that Austramax is no longer in business so it appears that all those lamps are no longer supported.

Does anyone know of any other generator parts that one might be able to use as replacements?

I do not know what the size of the jet is but it would seem that any similarly sized jet should work once it's installed in the generator.

Anyone else having problems find parts for Austramax lamps?

    Regards,

    Rick

    Welcome back.

The details on Austramax closure have been extensively discussed here.

Part way down you will find an image that highlights the nipples on an Austramax and Aladdin 1A are interchangeable.

You can also try T. W. Sands and Co in Melbourne, Victoria re possible spare parts they may still have.

    Good luck

Thank you for the quick reply!

I was pretty disappointed that Lehmans did not stock very many parts for these since they did seem to sell quite a few. And they even have a generator tube still listed on their site (although I suspect it too is "out of stock"!)

I will see if I can find an Aladdin 1A jet. I also think just about any jet could be used if it could be adapted. It would only need to be the same orifice size. I would also wonder if a Coleman Pressure (Kero) jet could be used. I guess a little experimentation is in order! It might be a little like trying different idle jets in a carburetor!

    Thanks again,

    Rick

Note: Aladdin 1A is the Australian made Aladdin.

TW Sands does have some Austramax spare parts, as do I.

Before you go down that path, you can remove the broken wire by heat and quench, or by soaking in Alum (to disintegrate the steel).

    Cheers

Many thanks to Martin and Tony!

I just sent an email to TW Sands inquiring about parts for the Austramax! Now if I can order them and have them sent to my Daughter in Auckland before she comes to visit in August, it'll be perfect! Wish me luck!

Also additional thanks to Martin for the link to the excellent tutorial on making another "pricker"!
Knowing the size of the jet and fine stainless steel wire is more than half the battle!

    Cheers,

    Rick

You could try eBay. Parts show up there now and then…

Well, folks, I just picked up my daughter from the airport and brought her and 2yr old grandson home. She brought me 2 new Austramax "Complete Generators"!!

TW Sands shipped them to my Daughter in Auckland!

I am back in business with my beautiful Austramax lantern!

I certainly hope these parts continue to be available for the foreseeable future!

Thanks again to all those that offered great suggestions on fixing this thing!

    Regards,

    Rick
