    Good day everyone

It's been a good day for me, I picked up a Tilley BR49b at a damn good price of under £200.
    Hardly a mark on it.
    Well pleased.com

That's a very nice find. These are not at all common as we see far less of the B type. Does it have a date stamp in the base? ::Neil::

Yes Neil, it was listed early yesterday morning on The bay of Evil. I put a bid of £150 in first and they countered with £180.
I got in before any bids were put on, it would have gone for more if someone had bid I reckon.

Thanks Tom. I have six B types listed and doubtless there will be more but I reckon they were only made from about 1967 to 1972 and probably never in quantity. ::Neil::

Yes Rob. I now have the three. My BR49a needs a bit of TLC and a nice coat of paint however

Great find and is that the original box there? Be great to see some photos of that too if poss?:thumbup:
I am presuming that the box may be taller than a standard Tilley lantern box??
    Cheers

An B-type, dated august 1974 in my collection. The 'chrome' export model.
