Following on from Neil's comments about the other lantern I posted, I got a nagging feeling I had another one somewhere. As I was raking around the in loft looking for something else - ta-da! Absolutely no question about this one:- Missing the top (and globe, again ) but otherwise in better condition than my other one, maybe a little 'mix and match' exercise is called for...
!!!*** David. These are seriously rare and you got nearly two?? This is borderline obscentity. All you need now is the Veritas one and a bowl fire to complete the set.
Hi i have a coulpe of these here they are the bowlfire is a veritas and the lantern is a Thermidor...it has the original glass.. kenny
Odd these. I have seen more of the bowl fires than the lamps. Mind you neither is common but they do seem to work OK. I passed on my bowl fire and the lantern is a little rough but it is the only one I have yet found. Nice things to have in the collection. Obscure English lamps. The only one yet to be seen is the Burmos lamp. ::Neil::
No doubt Neil will be pleased to know that another one landed through my letter box today. Missing the globe again and the air-tube but it's got a decent top to complete one of the other two which is in much better condition. So that's almost three!! I know Neil, James and Kenny Connolly have one each plus my three. Any more known?
@David Shouksmith I bought one of yours at Newark last year so that doesn’t count. THIS Bottogas is probably as rare. With yours, David, that’s just two I know of. John
Aaaaarrrgggghh! - I sold one of them! It must have been the complete one that was running. But at least it went to a good home! But that's a stove so it doesn't count...
Here it is:- If you could let me have details of the one near you that would be good. So seven (or almost seven!) known...
