    Hi all,

    This is an earlier unknown table lamp model from BRÉ, Brégier, Deligne et Cie.
    As there is a shortage of paperwork for this French company there is no specific information of this lamp. The Bré table lamps we know of are all meant to run on regular car gasoline fuel,
    but all those have a positive shutoff valve, which this lamp has not. The type of burner used in most Bré lamps, with the Bre special designed cleaning needle membrane device and a four tube air intake, is present also on this lamp. The greenish and awful smelling fuel residue muck in bottom of the lamp font, reminded me of cleaning out old kerosene from a Primus 981. I have a portable Bré parabolic radiator
    Ca. 1930 Bre heater without a positive shutoff valve, that is said to run on kerosene or duel fuel in one of the few Bré paper we know of, so maybe this lamp runs on kerosene or is a dual fuelled lamp. The typical Bré membrane cleaning needle device was patented already in 1914, but I think this lamp can be dated to probably mid to late 1920,s.

    The font had small cracks and pin holes so I had to fix that, as well as fixing a new cleaning needle. It cleaned up nicely and worked well when I made a lighting try. Probably around 200 CP, as said about the other Bre table lamps.

    Hmm… very nice :thumbup::thumbup:
    I like the way the stem/handle follows the contours of the shape of the glass/gallery :-)

    the needle mechanism is very interesting?? You say membrane ..in the patent it is labelled ‘f’.. i take it that it is a metal ?

    regards
    pb
