This is new to my collection, Tilley 106 Table Lamp with the "pork pie" tank, shade, globe and insect screens (hence the IP designation). It came from another Australian collector, and will remain as fettled by him and unfired. If I were to light it, I would replace the burner as it shows that the lamp has been heavily used in the past. The shade is much newer than the lamp, being a Czech-made reproduction manufactured for TW Sands (Melbourne, Australia). This lamp has a "wartime" control cock with the steel thread for the packing nut on the control cock. The TW Sands shade. Cheers Tony
Hi Tony, The pins on the Gallery holding the globe, they look different to what i have seen before. Are they original or custom replacements?
@Scott M I’ll check those gallery pins against my NOS stock and let you know. They are as from the previous owner. Cheers Tony
Yes I'm curious as well, do they screw into the gallery? Or are they the normal pull out and release type? Regards Brian.
@Scott M & @Buggerlugs They are not normal Tilley gallery pins. I reckon the previous owner (a well respected collector here in Australia) may have had them made. But I do have many different versions of the Tilley gallery pins that I got from Jim Dick’s estate. I’ll sift though them tomorrow and see if there’s a match to these pins. Interestingly, the thread on the pin fits the hole in the spring so exactly that it screws into the spring. Whether this was deliberate or not I don’t know. Cheers Tony
