    Hi all,

    Here is a 100 CP alcohol gravity donut Mundus II lamp. Unknown maker, but probably the Czechoslovakian "Elektra" company, (Antonin Fridrich "FRIDRICH & PIŠVEJC"). It uses the same burner design as several other Elektra gravity lamps and also my O. Karlin stand lamp. I can't find any patent for this type of burner, but I believe there is one original patent as the source of all these lamps.

    From papers of a Czech stove site, I found catalogue images (very low resolution, I'm sorry) of this Mundus II lamp, and also of the smaller Piccolo I and II donut lamps in the same style. In one catalogue, dated May 1939, there are also several Wiktorin lamps displayed, so my guess is mid 1920,s into the 30,s ( Elektra patent for a height adjustable fuel tank, working as an on/off fuel device, comes 1920).

    Although much simpler built quality overall and in burner design, this lamp match the Hugo Schneider Lipsia lamp, both as a user and in performance.

    /Conny

    Hello Conny, I managed to buy a MUNDUS II lamp in the additional nickel - plated version with . The lamp is complete, has a porcelain nozzle. The heat-resistant glass is already on its way to me. I would like to light the lamp, however, I have no experience with an alcohol lamp (I have pressure kerosene lamps)... How does it work with the mantle? - Is it possible to tie a 100 cp mantle to the existing ceramic nozzle? I do not have a suitable ceramic holder for the mantle. How does it work with the ceramic mantle holder - does it have to fit the nozzle tightly, or is there a gap? Thank you, best regards Bittner.

    Gorgeous lamp Conny but that shade on @Dan Bittner’s lamp is something else.

    First test with a regular mantle tied tightly to the ceramic nozzle. Conny, what type of mantle are you using? Is there a gap between the mantle ring and the ceramic nozzle? Thanks for the answer. Dan

    @Dan Bittner

    Sorry Dan for beeing late to this. I used a rigid pre formed mantle, but I think these are hard to get nowadays.
    I have kept the tre legged ceramic mantle holder and with a tied on mantle maybe this will work a bit better than
    the one you used. The ceramic nozzle is changed on my lamp, so maybe not a match to yours; but give me your address in a PM, and I will send it to you.
