Just to pick up on an old thread seen here, my recent purchase also dated 1/61 and the base has dropped a bit,
When I litted one of my X246B lanterns I got 8 hours 45 minutes running from full pressure until there was a significant drop in light levels... And the total burn time was just over 13 hours 20 minutes.
That's pretty good, How strange, another large tank has just been listed on ebay, there's loads of them
Great find @MG i love its name plate :-) have you tracked it down? How do these compare size wise with, say an x246A ??
New Hadley Halt was located between Oakengates and Wellington, on the Great Western Railway's London Paddington to Birkenhead via Birmingham Snow Hill line. It was situated in Shropshire, on the line between Wolverhampton and Wellington. The station was opened in 1934 and closed on May 13, 1985, due to uneconomic repairs apparently,
Coool oh, thanks for the photo, it really shows the difference Cheers ! regards pb edit : yes, i remember reading about a direct London train, think it ran from the old station at Woodside
No problem, the paint matches my Southern Rail BR49 but obviously Shropshire isn't Southern so maybe they had a little extra spare
yes, it would be great to find out some of these puzzles.. I wonder how much of the halt is still there.. looks quite built up on the map but the old platform may still be there next to the line as so many still are
I saw that one on eBay earlier and recalled the thread started by Mackburner; I then came on here to peruse it and found this. Quite astounding how these things lay dormant for so long and for two to turn up virtually at the same time. Amazing
Yes very strange, mine only turned up today and then my friend messaged to say one had just been listed on ebay, going by Neil's thread there are now three or four so far, i'd never seen one before.
