    IMG_6495.jpeg IMG_6494.jpeg IMG_6493.jpeg Found Sunday at a Connecticut barn sale. So is this a 1930s R1?
I’ve never found an all brass one and this one is in great condition except for the missing burner head. Any info would be appreciated. Thx

Hi mate, with that control cock and reflector, looks like post 1945- 54ish, in my opinion.

Hi, I agree the control cock is from 1940 onward, I have a 1930's R1, I will post some photos, although the burner and vapouriser are post WW2, almost certainly serviced and updated to keep it going between 1946 and 1950 approx. Great find and work great I've used mine most of this winter, but with a wire mantle.

The Tilley heaters and Kayen equivalent occasionally turn up. As for spares T.W. Sands here in Melbourne does Tilley spares, the most difficult part to get is the burner though Sands may be able to source a used one.

They are very efficient heaters and the copper reflector the best option, reflects almost 100% of the heat produced. Hope you find the parts you need Sands can be contacted via email sandsman@ozemail.com.au .

So I moved the burner from another later model heater over to the brass R1. Will this be compatible?

Compatible as in 'Will it work?' - Yes
I believe your angled burner is from the mid-50s onwards.

Hi Doug, Sedgman is correct, the later burner will work very well, when you try the Copper reflector compared to the mirrored one, you will be quite surprised when whilst running the copper will only get mildly warm, where the mirrored one will get to hot to touch, enjoy your fettling. Juliands and Base-Camp in the UK both are major suppliers of Tilley parts, also facebook marketplace is a good search place too. As you will probably know Fettlebox supplies good quality seals again from the UK. In the U.S.A. Thackers were the Tilley importers, maybe they still stock supplies, may be worth a look.
