    Guys,

    Could anyone please refer to the 868a glass globe. Its measurements. How hard is it to find one of those glasglocke? Are reproductions still available? Actually a reproduction is what I'm looking for. If anyone knows, please PM me. I'll share some pics in a few days. I hope.

    Thanks

    Hi Adolfo,

    the diameter of the glass is approx. 185mm. I think it is hard to find one. Luckily I found one on ebay a few months before. Good luck to find one.

    Regards

    Hello everyone,

    The day has come and it took me a while to get it...it's come directly from the crypt . I wonder if I can join or become one of those 12 knights. I'll be the southest I think!
    I'll add better pics then.

    Don't damage the original steel jet.
    Looks like it will clean up and function well. I hope you can find a globe.
    They perform like most donut lamps well, despite age.

    Guys,

    Are mica globes (framed) strong enough to resist a 800 Hk heat? I'm thinking of Robert 'BOB' Butts. :-k. Thanks WimVe

    I am pretty sure Indian merchants will have made glass panel globes for every model.
    Due to the bigger size the heat will not be a problem too. Nor for normal glass or mica.

    Hello,
    Today I got a positive reply from a handblown glass workshop overseas. This person says they can make borosil glass for this model. Is there any reference here where I can get those specific 868a "technical drawing" with all measurements (length, diameter, width, small hole diameter, etc)?, or could any here provide his?. They are required for the maker indeed. Prices and timeline will be sent after they get that technical information. I've seen 2 models of glass globes in different sites.
    I won't upload any commercial link on this forum, but I think the more glass globes we order, the better for anyone who needs them . If someone is interested, please send me a P.M. I have no commercial link with this person, I insist.
    The only reason for doing this is to try to find an alternative for a sold out item.

    I'm looking forward to seeing your drawings!

    Hello Adolpho,
    I don't know whether the measurements in this overview from 1911 are still valid for the 1920s or 1930s. If not, then you can use them as a template.
    Best regards,
    Jörg

    Hello Jorg,

    Thanks for your attached paper. It's great to see that even today you keep written records like this one in your country. As you say, I'll keep it like a templete as other member can provide further info as well or measure a real "glasglocke"
    On the left page, I read figures such as: 150 300, 600 and 1000. Are those hk? I assume 800 hk's measurements should be closer to 1000? Am I right?

    Leo,
    Later on, could you please add the rim's measurement in milimeters? I understand those 205mm do not include the rim around the globe. 2. What about the hole at the bottom of the glass in milimeters?. Your glasglocke (model) is like the one we see on Jorg's paper, isn't it?. I ask that bacause I've seen two shapes so far.

    Thanks

    The glass of my Petromax 868A, which Reinhard kindly gave me, has the following dimensions:

    R=210mm
    D=190mm
    H=240mm
    L= 30mm (inner dimension)

    Hello,

    How do you normally remove these three screws? I took Reinhard's picture. In my lantern they are extremely stuck and a bit rusty. I don't want to destroy the screw's head with an ordinary screwdriver. Can I use a torch and add some water then? I hope you understand. Screenshot_20251227_151815_Chrome.jpg

    Hey Adolfo,

    these screws on my two 868 were not that tight, so normally you should be able to remove it. In your case I would try WD40 first. If it doesn‘t work after letting it go through the thread (1-2days), I would try it with a torch as you already mentioned. Heat up the cast iron base plate and then try to turn the screws carefully.

    Later
    Marc
