    Good Afternoon,

My name is Cody, I just received a Swiss Tilley FL6. I was referred here by the Coleman forum and I have a few questions of what I should do before I use this lamp. It currently holds pressure and the shut-off valve is working. What seals should I replace?

Secondly how do I oil the pump?So far I have used Ballistol on the pump handle shaft.

Finally, is it possible to source a new filler gauge as mine has a rusty dial?

    Welcome.

Apart from the fuel gauge and the assembly bolts the pump and the generator all come apart by hand. You just keep unscrewing things and noting the order they are in. If they are tight use a pair of adjustable pliers but insert a pice of leather first to grip the fitting so that you don't damage it. Unless you know it has been recently serviced then all washers and probably the pump leather may need replacing. The kit mentioned by @JEFF JOHNSON from Fettlebox is an excellent choice for the parts.

Fundametally, the process is virtually very similar to that for servicing a Tilley X246 lantern. Should be heaps to search for on this site.

The fuel gauge is often missing so you are 1 step ahead. I doubt you can find a replacement easily. I would get the rest working first and remember the unit will need a longer pre-heat than that of a X246 lantern and you should 3/4 fill the tank with new clean kerosene, otherwise there is too much air space and even mopre pumping will be required.

    Good luck

I would not mess with the gauge now.
Clean the outside, fill the tank and see what happens, if it isn't broke don't fix it. This also applies fr the seals.
Swiss models are later models and had better seals so they could be OK.

Also you NOS lamp is only NOS as long as you don't use it.

I may have gotten carried away. We are traveling for a family event and I've been picking up more lanterns as we drive.
