This as a Tilley SDR from the period 1946 to 1949.

    Found in Australia.

I have another (here) so I’ve kept this one as it came (but cleaned and waxed).

It came with the Tilley 2081 globe (not the original Tilley 78 globe); and an obviously newish replacement top cap for the hood.

This lantern is running very well!

Glad that it is in good hands. An interesting and less common lantern, probably especially so in Australia.

I love the way it's finished without being overly polished.

My x359 also arrived from Australia.
    Was Tilly common in Australia?

Any discernible enhanced output from that reflector would you say, Tony?

Your photo of the glass reminds me it’s the same component in the Tilley GL602 butane lamp.

Correct, @presscall. The 2081 is the correct glass for the Tilley GL602. It’s a few mm taller than the Tilley 78 glass and it’s often found on SDRs.

I think it’s bright with that reflector but I haven’t tried to objectively see whether the dispersed/reflected light is greater than a standard 246.

    Cheers
