opened the box to check it,put it back in the box,put in the loft and forgot about them

    Hey Rob,

I'd like to share some info with you but I can't - I'm too upset I haven't a friend like yours.

Once the tears dry and the blubbering stops I may be able to help if no one else has in the meantime.

Should you not be keeping them as a pair then rather than selling the one on ebay?

Decided too sell them and give him the money,he's 77 suffers from Parkinson's disease and I started to feel guilty for accepting them.As for keeping them together
whoever wins will be offered the other one for same price.

On user manual which is on picture there is a text "Indicator for correct working pressure". Where is that indicator? I haven't discovered that kind of indicator from my X246's. There is one extra "thing" on tank but I have thought that is a SRV. That "one extra thing" is close to the point where control valve is mounted to the tank.

The one extra thing will be pressure indicator. When the bit inside the nipple is level with the top of the nipple tube, it's at full pressure (if everything is working properly, that is).

    Thank's Tony!

I need to check if they are working in my older X246's. If they don't work is there some way to get them working? Inner part might be stuck because of dirt/dried kerosene&dust mix on it.

If they aren't working, put some penetrating oil down the hole and leave it sit. Fill the tank with 850ml of kero, then pump 100 times: that should be maximum pressure.

If the indicator doesn't move, don't worry about it - it can't be fixed. Sometimes they come unstuck of their own accord.

But if the nipple leaks air, solder it shut.

    Cheers

    Tony

    Ok & thank's!

I'll need to check if they are working... I have never noticed any action on them but to be honest I have never looked if they indicate something.

    Rob,
I think your actions are very commendable regarding giving your friend the money from ther proceeds - or dependent on the sale prices perhaps even use the money to buy something he would like?
    Full marks to you sir......
