    Hi all,

I did a bit of work on this previously attired, green hooded Bialaddin 310, which cost quite a lot of time, money & effort; but as the pictures show, I eventually got it to look marvellous again.

Any thoughts on it, then please do add comment; I know it isn't an original or proper 310, but to me it just looks as ravishing :D .

The tank and all the bit's and bob's were all chromed locally (not re-chromed), and the cost wasn't too excessive. I did buy a red reflector from overseas, but the colour was too much towards 'scarlet'; so as it looked a bit naff, left it out of the photo's added.

I've still problems down sizing picture size's, so even if they do load up; I'm pretty sure the images wont be that clear, sorry about that. The ones I took were really acute & clear, but that's been lost on reduction in the Image Optimiser unfortunately.

Seems to always (for me at least) provide blocky or lego like imagery, to the ones edited; it's very difficult reducing the originals down to below 70 kb.

Enjoy, if they load (fingers crossed, eh) . .

Crickey, that took some doing, I'll need to practise this more often but if the new web loading site is ready later this year; hopefully it'll get easier, as the pictures are so important, aside the lamp grafting.

Having just pre-viewed this attempt, with regret, it appears I've chopped some attempted images; nare eed though, most of the scans look good or there about's . . .

(second opinion, :content: uuummhh..., most of 'em look sharp enough; it's the first couple that are muffled . . .)

    Cheers then

    Jon.

    Very nice, Jon.

I was talking to Trevor (Shagratork) today and we discussed uploading problems. I remarked that many 'uploading' problems were, in fact, 'camera-setting' problems. That is to say, some folk have their cameras set to take few, high resolution images which are, by any measure, huge in size. Then they wonder why they won't upload. I set my camera to take images that are 640 x 480 pixels. Apart from then getting, literally, thousands of images on the card, I have few, if any image-uploading problems. For uploading here, I crop 'em, then re-save them with the image quality (compression) set to 25% and that's it - easy-peasy, lemon squeezy, Norman.

I don't know if that applies to you, Jon, but it's maybe worth looking at to make things easier...

Yes Dave, that's what I did to get the later ones loaded from this bunch, the first one just went a bit skew whiff though!

I can re-size in Windows Photo Gallery, then pick them out from CPL's Optimiser, to get them below a hundred; it's dependent on the original file size though, as sometimes they won't scrape into the 90's, and the odd one still remains just over three digits (wont load ect, & then I'm seriously flayed that all the others prior, will abort because of a tricky one).

It's odd you mention something that my sister let me onto earlier today, I've the ability (unbeknown to me prior) in the simple Nikon cam, to format a small thumb nail size conversion, from the larger shot taken in the first instance; but then also shown that to keep it in VGA all the time, helps assist in reducing the file size, so the PC reads it quicker without having to elasticate back 'n forth, possibly slowing the whole loading process down (might be right)?!

It's a process I found much easier a year or more back, but with this sensible information here (ta very much!); I will surely now find this gets easier, with the settings proferred to adhere too.
I got to dread doing it all (loading/ downsizing), which was a major dampener after finishing a lamp; as the photography work ought to be enjoyable, from start to finish.

I've Christer to thank for sortin' out that 'mish mash' I just loaded (Thank's Christer  ) . .. Much better that lay out, nice one, ta !!

All being well I'll have mastered all this a bit nearer the 65 - 70 % ratio mark, by the time I've got my Hipolito H502 finally roaring away beautifully at last; readying it for a night time cam' session, has taken well over half a year thus far, it'll soon be finished !

Here above's how I've started storing the 'shelfies'; it'll keep Boot's in business for a bit longer  . An excellent idea

    Righto, thanks eh . . . :)

    Jon  .

Cheers Tony  , got it minted at long last; it wont be lit though, no Sir.

Just lit the Hipolito, nice results too; will pre-heat tomoz, with the jet burner and take some pic's to load up later on.

    Seriously nice lantern Jon!

It's remarkable how you get these to look better than how they came from the factory, with all the parts taken to highest shine. I don't think you missed even the tiniest spot.

Very well done and a pleasure to see!

No Phil, money shots only take place on ball game grounds, with 1000's if not millions watching on; the only way I'd do that, is to receive the keys to the Kingdom, from the 'high ups' . . . .(ain't 'appenin') . . . .

    . . . . "hey ups, that lads a sense o' humour" !

"back to the chores for now, no spot the ball here . . . . ." ;)

    Hey Dan,

Thanks for the thumbs up ! I usually can see a lamp I'm working on finished off before the works completed; I don't know, it's a bit like appreciating the tatty artwork to a mates great LP album, to then go out & buy the same.

"Copying" really, but there's so many differing jobs required on most of the work involved during the good times, it hardly ever becomes repetitive; tooth & nailing it with every component, just ends up habit eventually, & this part of the 'zen' to lamp work is a hard course to shy away from, standards wise altimeter.

I've still a few more V & B's to get too yet, so will leave the 305 off the books, until approaching the next new decade . . . . (hopefully before though, bless. . .. )

    Jon.
