Nothing rare about this Guardsman. But I have a question for the Forum. When did Tilley first start dating their tanks? This one is date stamped on the base 11/58XA so made in November 1958. The tank wall is stamped "Tilley (Owl) England", so made before the move to Northern Ireland. It has the older deep style glass, but the later latching type handle. It's a nice lamp and working very well. Steve.
Nice condition lamp you got there Steve, I can't be sure about the year Tilley started dating their tanks, but 1957 comes to mind as I think that was when they changed the design and started going down hill. So at a guess I would say that 57 was the first year but I stand to be corrected.

Hello Steve I have the same lamp but no date it just says Made in England on the base With a small letter T stamped above it ? No Date on box to help, it would be a good to get the date when they changed over to the later latching type handle.
