I think all VL1 are identical so I put all of them in the same post. It's quite difficult to collect all colors.

Yes Jean, I know that. But you always have a fair notion of what you generally see rare lamps end up with, and considering fishfish's post there must be some idea of what these vase lamps might cost. Since he think they are the ones payed most for, I want to know how much that is. £2000? £3000? £4000? That kind of roughness is enough for me. eBay is one way to get a fair idea, but since I don't look for Tilley myself, I ask here. Many of you have seen them pass by, and to which prices. So, anyone? Fishfish, what was the price (roughly) for the ones you had in mind? Thanks.
OK. No one who want to give me a hint of what they have seen them being sold for? Strange... Oh, well. That's all right. I saw one (kindly brought to my attention by a member here. Thanks!) that ended just now. Apparently they don't go so incredibly high. This one only went for £806. But pehaps this blue one wasn't the most desirable colour? Of course the next one can go for two, three or even four times that. I'm well aware of how the prices fluctuate.
I think everyone was probably waiting to see that one go Christer, as it's been quite some time since one was sold. I can't even remember the last one that came on. Something strange about that one though, chrome tank no stamps on the vase? I thought the chrome tank only came with the black vase. The last Jacobean that sold was over £2000, I've seen more of those go through eBay than I have seen vase lamps.
Clear enough for me. A ballpark figure was the only thing I asked for. Well, not exactly all... What I really wanted was an answer from fishfish since he was the one who obviously had an idea what they used to go for.
Things have moved on over the years. I can remember chatting to Mick in Watford many years ago and we decided a VL1 was worth around £70. That is about what my gold one cost me but I paid better than ten times that for the blue one in a private sale last year. Mind you having been collecting for around 50 years I have quite a few lamps that cost pennies compared to todays values. Mind you those were the days when there were hardly any collectors. In 1990 I think I was aware of maybe three in the UK so there was not a lot of competition. Happy time. ::Neil::
