Tilley SDR Type 1

    Picked this up on ebay the other day it must be my purchase of the year after alot of restoration this is the finished lamp not sure if i should get a decal made for it or not.

    Is this the version of the dutch RWS ?
    If so the tank color is wrong.

    How did you get the reflectors so nice ?
    They are always pitted due to the aluminium.

    This is the first type of SDR with the Pork Pie tank. As such it has to be from 1946 to the early 1950s.

    The RWS version is later and made between 1954 and 1956 with a different tank shape and is stamped on the side with the Tilley logo. ::Neil::

    There is still a little pitting around the outside edge but i didn't want to go to far and do any damage. I have a small bench polisher with a very soft buffing wheel that i use along with this metal polish

    That is my preferred polish for brass, chrome, nickel and all other metals.
