I thought i'd add some pictures of my new Bowl fire as there wasn't any of this model, i've just given it a clean up and a service and it fired straight up
The aperture on the air intake block is generally seen pointing downwards - presumably to stop shite detritus getting into the burner. I hadn't noticed the air intake tube on these MkI bowlfires was shorter although it's obvious it would have to be now that I think about it... Over-fuelling a bit? - it should still keep you nice and warm at Newark though...
@David Shouksmith I thought that may be the case but as that's the way it came i left it like that, Yes and also of a slightly larger diameter, the burner body looks slightly larger in the picture too but it might just be an optical illusion, i will measure them at some point, My other Bowl Fires have two prongs on the name plate, giving somewhere for the guard to sit but not on this one, I will try another vapouriser to see if it makes any difference, there were green flames emerging from the lowest joint of the burner on start up but it seems to have sealed itself up as they disappeared after a few minutes.
Yes, the earliest MkIs were like that. Ray (longilily) has one which I tried to get off him for years. As far as I can recall, yours and his are the only ones I've seen in almost 20 years of collecting...
That is fairly uncommon then if someone like yourself hasn't seen many over that amount of time, It runs better with a different vapouriser but maybe this one deserves a nos one from the spares dept!
@MG I know, old thread, but clarify something for me would you? It’s to confirm that your bowlfire is sporting a later model guard - two and not four clips and more ‘spokes’. F600 - MkI F2700 Thanks. John
@MG Many thanks for the quick response. Reason for asking was my acquisition of a MkI and I was unsure if there was a MkI variation with the later model guard, in the way that ‘cross-over’ components occur.
To be honest i am not sure, i do know that many of the guards get misplaced and most are happy to use any guard that they can get hold of.
From time-to-time, Lidl sell replacement Bialaddin Bowlfire Guards. For some unknown reason they describe them as 'Fruit Bowls'. I've a picture somewhere...
