Very interesting details. What is the filler cap made from? Is the quick lighter one of the Petromax variations?
Interesting - is that metal strip down the outside of the generator designed to prevent the mantle touching it and thus burning it out? Also seems to have quite an enlarged jet! - what's going on there..?
That metal piece looks like the adaptor to enable the use of a two tie mantle. Missing the ceramic block at the bottom and fitted the wrong way round. ::Neil::
The brand name Petroman was registered in 1954 to Graetz Aktiengesellschaft Hamburg (trade mark number 663242) and again in 1955 (trade mark number 669851). Therefore I assume any lanterns with this brand were made by Graetz KommanditGesellschaft (Graetz KG) in Altena alongside Petromax and Aida in the late 1950s and 1960s. ::Neil::
Initially, I wondered if that's what it might be, but it seemed over-long and IIRC, doesn't resemble the adaptor I've got around here, somewhere...
The filler cap is made of a plastic. In German: Pertinax The preheater is not the like the Px construction. He has only one hole for the fuel from the tank. If you push on the knob of the cap, the tank looses his pressure very fast. A very good idea
I know this is an old topic, but the Petroman is a dual fuel Gasoline-Kerosene lantern and the metal piece on the generator is used to alter the fuel-air mixture. When fitted the lantern will burn gasoline and when removed it will burn kerosene.
Hello Karli, i know your post had a lot of years but if you still have the petroman can you post a photo of the torch? I have one but I dont know if it is complete or something is missing, thank you, best regards
