Just the various instruction leaflets posted in the library section here - oh, and getting on for 20 years experience tinkering with the little buggers. OK, OK, make that one year's experience repeated 20 times...
Hi. Thanks for the heads up on the PlastiKote paint, its a great match! Do you use a finish coat / lacquer ? I painted one and it was left out in a shower, now the paint has water marks ?!?!?! Thanks Andy :-)
@Andy-H If I use automotive paint, that hardens with time or baking, I don’t usually use a clear coat. When I do use a clear coat, I use an automotive clear coat or VHT-brand. Best regards Tony
I have sprayed a number of my lanterns if they needed it, depending how bad the original finish had become. Like anyone else, I originally sprayed and left it at that... but I acquired an industruial style oven and although I know opinions differ, I find mine extremely useful. It doesn't do anything that time won't do on it's own but the quality of surface finish you can acheive in a very short time is quite impressive! Just to reitterate, you don't need an oven but I find mine very useful.
I have just done an x246a and an x359. Both of them had the older style NRV in the brass holder. The kit i bought only had the new style so I tried it anyway and have not had an issue. Cheers, Phil
@PDK That's true they do work and I have done the same. But I would get the correct seal and swap them when you get the chance. They are easier to maintain. Correct one is available from the Fettlebox.
@ROBBO55 Yes I have saved all my little brass bits and springs for when I get to that job. Cheers, Phil
