Interesting to see another of the 'unusual' 1200 lantern. These turn up every now and again and one guess is that they are from an order supplied...
Unfortunately I don't have much helpful advice but will just mention that if the J tube gets that red you should turn of the lamp immediately. At...
Matti, it is not called "fotogen" in Danish. Kerosene is "petroleum". What Per shows should be fine. @Per What I have had good experience with is...
The square section could be just an extra option for mounting. Hang it from the mast with a rope as an anchor lamp or fit it to a post as a...
The style of the lamp looks like an anchor lamp, so my guess is that the hole at the bottom is for a rope to keep the lamp steady when hanging...
The Optimus lanterns from 1931 were almost direct copies of the Petromax lanterns of the time. As such I am guessing that they copied the thread...
I get 26tpi to be a pitch of 0.98mm. Using 1" = 25.4mm.
It would be very good to know the year. Can you find the date stamp? If the parts are original to the lamp, then I would guess it is from 1938.
Does that crack go all the way to the soldered base plate. From the photos, it doesn't look like it.
These threads are prone to heat damage, so if it doesn't need to come apart, I would leave it. You have already taken the mixing dome off, but...
The 1051 was in production until 1950. A couple of the differences between how it would look in 1939 (AD) and 1950 (AO) is there are only six...
In 1954 Primus did some design optimisation (cost cutting) and removed the inner cone from the hood. The nut is only needed to hold this cone in...
It was quite common for military lamps to be fired up once to make sure they worked, then packed away again for later. That is most likely the...
If the valve wheel design follows the same pattern as the lamps, then it must be from 1950 or after. The wheel had twice as many 'knobs' before 1950.
I expect it is a replacement glass, but not sure. Maybe one I put in it? [ATTACH] Off topic, but does anyone know where to get the top nut to...
My money is that it was used as a hollow wire tank. I heard from Handi Albert once that he had one where the fuel pick up tube had a hole in it....
Interesting fitting on the bottom of the tank. Maybe it was used as a hollow wire tank.

I have seen quite a few Petromax and Optimus lamps from the Danish military that have had the inner tops swapped so some models fit.
Even if it is 'only' an X246B, it is NIB so I would expect it is still desirable.
