Is there anyway you could flare the pipe a bit maybe knock the blunt end of a drill inside the generator then maybe it will bite better. I done...
Did it not screw in at all then i found it a easy fix?
Is the bottom of the generator just a piece of brass pipe ie no nut on it? If so heat and quench the bottom end soften the brass cut say 3mm off...

If it has not got a pump you need a external pump to pressure it 9 lamp pumps.

John i have experienced the melted new pricker wire syndrome you speak of. What i do now is drill a 1mm hole in the end of the pricker holder...
