I will do a summary on the weekend. I had asked for all posts from the event by Saturday in case people were busy. Though, I would say considering the weather affected Places where Tilleys are more prevalent it has been a smashing success and great to see the large variety of Tilleys.

Summary of 100 Tilleys 4 Tilley

Firstly, I accepted all entries in the spirit of the event and the difficulties in the UK with temperatures. It was great so many people posted pictures and others who indicated their support but were away from their 'babies'.

I counted (several times) and found that we almost made two thirds of our goal with 59 Tilleys. The people participating came from 6 areas in the UK, 5 areas in Australia and entries from Germany and South Africa too. Thanks to everyone who was able to participate.

    Areas entries came from.

Note in the UK some of the areas are close together and hard to show better.

I have not provided numbers for each country as I really wanted it to be a friendly shared salute to Mr Tilley 100 years on and not a competition.

I would add that some beautiful lamps, lanterns, floodlights, spotlights, radiators and stoves were lit up. Many were quite uncommon and it was great to see them in operation.

One contributor even showed a Tilley T-shirt; OK if we count that then it's 60.

I think Mr Tilley would have been impressed with our salute. I think considering the heatwave in Europe we did well.

My suggestion is that we have another crack at getting 100 in a years time or maybe 150 and open it up to other makes. Just a thought.

Again thanks for the interest people have shown:

    Correction:

    58 Tilleys and 1 T-Shirt.

I inadvertantly counted Tony's X246B with the X359 hood twice, when it also appeared in the photo with his interesting test lantern.

@Sedgman Thanks for doing the count! I thought we would easily make 100 so I left 2 unlit in the shed. Sorry...

I'm definitely in favour of having another crack. I have plenty more Tilleys I could have lit but didn't because given the amount of collectors worldwide, I thought 100 would be achieved easily.

@Sedgman . It was a great show regardless . As mentioned a bit of preparation. I found some didn’t want to play the game. I didn’t have a lot of time due to work commitment. All the same, better than watching the idiot box.
There were some truly beautiful lanterns old and new. I do like all lanterns and lamps.

If I'd had the time and a large stock of fuel I could have lit another 42 myself but as other members have said with the all the members we have I assumed we would have well beaten the target easily,
    Regards Ian.

I briefly thought about lighting the two lamps I have ready for use in the living room, a VL1 and an ML98 but it was about 11.30pm and I was too tired to faff about with them. I promise to do better next time though.

What a shame that we as a Forum with over 6600 members couldn't make the 100 Tilley lamps.
I feel disappointed that we didn't make the target, but I was happy with Forum members who participated and loved all the lamps that were lit and in action.
I do understand that for some members it was unforeseen circumstances, that they couldn't participate.
    That's my 20cents worth.:D

    Hi Sedgeman and all,

I haven’t visited the Forum for some time, so I was amazed to discover that Sedgeman led the challenge to get 100 Tilley lamps lit to commemorate Fred Tilley’s patent.

Pity we didn’t achieve it, but no matter, the thought was there, and some beautiful lamps were on show!

Many thanks to all who took up the challenge!

    Phil
