    I asked Bernie (TW Sands) whether the mica globes on Austramax were made by Austramax or anyone else he knew of.

    He thought they were probably Coleman mica globes.

    Ok, it makes sence, back in the day they probably used what ever resourses they had.

    Thanks Tony, I was trying to think through whether some people might have preferred mica. For example, if you had lived through the transition to glass/Pyrex and not liked the downsides such as cracking.

    Perhaps an advantage of glass/Pyrex is the ability to have more complex shapes (and Tilley in particular seem to have valued this).
