Thanks, @Jean J @JEFF JOHNSON Here is my Bakelite Aladdin lamp, this is how I got this lamp, I believe about 8 years ago now. The lamp came from Castlemaine Victoria from an elderly lady that had it from new. She was moving into an aged care facility and sold it to me for $40AUD. She couldn't remember if the shade came with the lamp, or it was replaced. The chimney and shade are cracked, I do have a brand new chimney still in the box somewhere, maybe one day I will change it over.
A parchment shade would have been original. T W Sands will have them. Your lamp is in the 1945 catalogue. This ad is from 1951.
@Anthony Thanks mate, I actually have 2 with stands, the other one is even harder to take a photo of, but here is the top half. I know for sure that this shade isn't original.
Here is a photo of the one my parents bought in 1953 with original 16" parchment shade. I got it back up and running some years abo and found a new 16" shade. Not keen on the gold edging, but better than nothing. An original Australian insect screen is on the wish list.
@Nils Stephenson , I have seen so many reproductions of that shade but as I have never seen an original, I did not know they had the gold trim. The repros are 14 inch too. Introduction to Australian Aladdin lamps
@Anthony From what I can see on the original photo of my parents lamp, the shade had a cloth type edge. The shade with the gold edge is one I bought about 20 odd years ago. It was the last 16" one they had in stock at Braidwood.

Looks fantastic mate. Here is an Aladdin that we restored, a full makeover. I'm don't know enough about Aladdin lamps, but I just love the look of them. Regards Brian.
Hello Brian, it's a bonny lamp! This link shows another very useful Aladdin book. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Aladdin-Ma...ok overview, over 400 photos and illustrations.
Ooh, I really like that shade @Buggerlugs, one that I don’t have. Jeff, that’s a gey expensive book but it would be lovely to have it. Maybe I should start dropping hints now in good time for my birthday in December!
According to Teri-Ann Wakemans pages this looks like shade No. 501 which belongs to a US model 11 (see top left of second page). I have such a model here and it looks beautiful.
That’s very interesting @Martin K. as I brought home a U S model 11 with me in 2019 when I was staying with my son in NJ. It came with a ribbed shade so I must look out for a 501.
Hello Jean, it's a fine reference book and the history of the Aladdin company worldwide is also interesting,
Thanks for the comments and information, it's much appreciated. @JEFF JOHNSON @Jean J @Martin K. Regards Brian.
