Did you clean the filter that sits in the tank below the valve manifold?
Here is a picture of it.

The filter is an interference fit and can be coached out with a pin or needle.
If this filter is blocked, or almost blocked, you may get a dribble from the jet but not enough to support a flame.
    Cheers

Damien, Not in that order I hope.

You fill the preheater with Methylated spirits and light.
Wait until the vapouriser is hot. Metho should be almost gone.
    then pump
You should see vapour coming from the porcelain nozzle.
    Light the vapour

Pete..... truly beautiful fettle! The info that flowed after your original post was awe inspiring. The boof head above (yours truly) who attempted to wreck this thread with his ignorant whinging is truly sorry. Impatience and frustration got the better of me.
Bloody nice to see these variations. Humbled by your passion and knowledge.

Don't be hard on yourself. I'm so happy to be able to help in anyway I can and to share what knowledge I have. There is so much knowledge on this forum, mine is but a small contribution, the only sin is not asking questions. This is what the forum is all about.
Keep us informed of your progress, and of course, the money shot .......... :D/
    Cheers
    Pete

    Cheers Pete.
Just got some low odour kero and more metho... I find crud keeps coming up the vapouriser and blocking the nipple. I'll just keep trying!

    Hi Damien,

Have you been using low odour kerosene in all your attempt to light it?

My impression is that low odour kerosene has some of the more volatile components removed and in some lanterns may thwart your efforts to pre-heat.

So if you’ve checked everything else with no luck then perhaps try ‘normal‘ kerosene.

    Thanks mate.
I've been using Diggers "normal " kero for all my attempts... it's about half the price of the low odour stuff. I just bought some low odour because yesterday was pay day and I'm a bit tired of the kero aftershave smell!
I've finally got orange, smokey flame coming out of the porcelain spreader!!! Maybe more cleaning is needed?

Orange smoky flame, provided that you have enough pressure and she’s been adequately preheated, is an indication that she’s running too rich. Too much fuel to air ratio.
The 2 most common causes is the jet is worn, giving to much fuel, and or there is an obstruction in the air tube to the burner, causing not enough air for the fuel being delivered.
    Cheers
    Pete

I dare say the nipple is worn... it is certainly a bigger diameter than on the Veritas, if that's a useful comparison.
I've had no luck, as yet, with 2 Aussie supply places online. One's TW and the other in Braidwood.
Is there a reliable Aussie supplier of pressure lamp parts?
I'm going to need another nipple and I'm still searching for leather cups for 1A and the Veritas.

Damien. What parts do you want. I have plenty of bits and pieces.
