Sorry my mistake, its actually 459.

I've just noticed it has a different type of cage from my Guardsman. The handle isn't fitted to the cage with the rings but more like my x246a.

So I've this one apart now and everything's steeping in vinegar solution ready for a good clean up.

Just wondering about this metal ring on the burner, I take it this came as part of the mantle at a time?

Is there a particular way of removing it or do i just force it off?

The metal ring is from a Tilley Happy mantle. Just work it off with a firm hand grip. Failing that you'll notice that the ring is 'expandable' . Just get a fine screw driver behind it.

    Cheers

    Sorted thanks.

The inside of the pump looks like it has sat for years in a tank of parrafin and has gone all brown/tarnished so I'd imagine the inside of the tank is the same. Is there anything you guys use to clean this back to the brass?

I've cleaned the lot in vinegar/water solution and although that has removed carbon from the burner etc it hasn't done anything for the pump body. I probably would rather clean it up and leave it as is than use anything too aggressive.

Get some Marine Clean from Frost Automotive. Nothing I know better for disolving the gunk inside a tank. Goes in white and comes out black. ::Neil::
