Hi guys, not been on here for a long time as I am working 6 long days and don’t get time to do much, I usually use butterfly mantles on my petromaxes (I know they are very cheap and cheerful) but they have always been ok, I noticed that they are being sold on Ali Express for very very cheap so I bought several packs, but these shrink down considerably after burning off (way too small for a 500 cp lamp) not only this the stitching is very poor with gaps that often become holes after burning, also the tie string is threaded Willy nilly often with big gaps, in general they are appalling , could these be fake / counterfeit or have they just got considerably worse quality Any feedback would be appreciated, thanks guys

Several years ago I had some supposedly 500 cp., Butterfly mantles which shrank so much when burned off that they were only of use on 200 or 300 cp lanterns.
In my opinion and experience it's best to buy older stock mantles.
