Clarification please as the Chalwyn use of New for some models makes it hard for me to distinguish between a new Pilot model and a New Pilot model.

In an earlier post I gained an impression that the New Pilot model was cold blast and that original Pilot was hot blast.

In the photos accompanying the above quote I see a blue unused Pilot that is unused and cold blast. So am I right in understanding the Pilot model was made in Hot and Cold blast models and the Chalwyn New Pilot model is solely a cold blast unit.

Also, @Sammi Jane would you kindly advise what colour your recent New Pilot is; I have one that was yellow from what I can tell. I presume they came in many colours just like some of the current well known hurricane lantern brands.

Correct but I can understand your confusion. The tank of early (i.e. made in England) cold blast Pilots was actually stamped NEW PILOT. Later (made in China) versions dropped the NEW. I don't know if this also applies to the LYNX and NEW LYNX.

@Tony loveday posted about Chalwyn lanterns, have a look about halfway down this page

My two Chalwyn's both were fairly rusty though the New Pilot was quite severe and leaked like a sieve. I removed the bottom and inserted a false bottom in the narrowing to hold fuel. I then used a steel jam tid lid to redo the base though fuel does not (or should not) come into contact with it. Thus the holes around the rim have been circumvented.

    The New Pilot

The damaged rim can be still seen:

    The Tropic is smaller:

    Lastly the pair:
