    Thanks for your interest Tom. My wee lamp still has its place in my small collection of lamps but I'm ashamed to say that I have never tried lighting it.

    Jean it's a Coleman so it will work. Have to sort out the pricker though because you will need that to work. As far as I know this is still the only one. A very rare thing to be fettled and cherished. ::Neil::

    Anyone passing this way? I think I did send for mantles, must check, but that's as far as it went.

    @Jean J

    You are in the wrong jurisdiction to plead the 5th Amendment!

    My reply was really meant for sci Tony but you can deduce from that the answer is ‘No’. Have to sort out the pricker anyway.

    Redhill Road, Hay Mills, Birmingham - also home of Monitor Engineering & Oil Appliances Ltd. Given the Monitor/Coleman collaborations (some variants of the Solus stove? Blowlamps) elsewhere is there a connection here?

    So does anyone have a spare Gas Tip Cleaner Wheel suitable for my 2242? Also, where can I get a set of washers in UK?

    Are you talking about the wheels that were used on the 242K as a cleaning wheel instead of the normal bent wire? If so there is a guy who made a reproduction, that you can have 3D printed. I bought two of them for my 242K, in case i broke one. (witch i never)

    Here is the link to the wheel: 242k tip cleaner wheel by RodneyR_cj6 on Shapeways

    It only comes with the wheel, so no way to attach it. But i attached mine, by using a cleaning lever from a 335, as they have a long extension, compared to 242's that have a quick bend, instead of a hoop like 335. I cut off the hoop, sand it down to be level and did the cheap way of connecting, by superglue.. lol It works so i can't complain, but i got a second in case i want to do it properly.

    Hello Jean, or as an alternative, oldcolemanparts.com can furnish you with a suitable replacement which, although without the wheel, will fit your lantern perfectly. Tip Cleaner Stem Reproduction
    (refer to the image in this post by Mackburner View attachment 36854 [/QUOTE] ) and if you can't find a suitable O ring for the filler cap - Cap Gasket 242
    If the vapouriser is shot, part number 201- 5891 for models 201 and 242 is what you need and they are available from base-camp. Edit: just checked and they're temporarily out of stock but they do show up on eBay from time to time.

    Henry.

    Thanks Tom and Henry. Now I’m confused (I can hear the chorus - “no kidding?), Neil’s first illustration shows no wheel and second does so maybe I just need that repro without the wheel?

    2242 is a modification of a standard 242 and that model never had a pricker control with a wheel. I would not therefore expect 2242 to have the wheel either. I don't know but I believe 2242 pre-dates 242K by a year or so and was therefore manufacturered before Coleman made that pricker control with a wheel. ::Neil::

    Looking at the photo of the pricker control It looks like its been threaded and snapped of .
    Just the same as my 242k Canadian. Two of mine 242k snapped at that point .Also your lantern is in good condition and can't see how anybody could snap a lever type pricker off at that point so has to be a wheel .Neil produced the paper work ,numbers match and shown is the pricker wheel .So you have a rare one lucky person .:lol: :thumbup:

    i just bought a 242nl with a pricker wheel, so maybe they were made earlier than thought.
