I think the original mica globe is called 327, hence the name of the lantern. As Phil says, Kuntz is your man. An old Coleman deserve a nice mica globe. Glass just looks wrong on old style lanterns. If you monitor eBay, I'm sure you'll soon find a Q99 generator. That's the one with a loop you mention, and it is better than the R55 you probably got on yours. Atleast when it comes to lighting. Even if it's not an instant light, it's what you would call a match light lantern. Or Quick-Light. A long match, or two regular ones, held under the loop is all it takes to get a lamp or lantern with a Q99 going. You can light an R55 with just a match too, but it will flare a bit before stabilizing and starting to generate actual gas. Sooty shades or globes are not un-common on R55 equipped apparatus.
@Lundo007 You can see the original and new Fred Kuntz chimneys (globes) on my L327 here: Coleman L327 (1927) Cheers Tony
@Tony Press . I have all ready been there !!!!Hell Tony, I recognize your workbench rummaging thru images on the internet!!!!! Thanks guys!!
COLEMAN L327, 1920ish, Turd Slayer. shook stuff out of tank..tightened generator ,checked valve, pumped ,put mantles on ...fired it up.simple perfection. Now I need to Kuntzify it and get a q99 generator. I GET IT!!
I don't think there is anything wrong with you valve. I have three I have used camping with my family for years. The way the valve works is a feature you leave the lamp outside your tent to prevent CO. Turn it off and it give you about 3 min. to get settled in your tent. Or at least that is the dealers explaination to me years ago
