    Shame, I was taught how to use Primus stoves and Tilley lanterns in the scouts - admittedly some 45 years ago. Interestingly we used bits of hexamine block (solid fuel for the non-UK readers) instead of methylated spirits for the pre-heat.

    Reading through this post is a sobering exercise. The main pressurised item that I use is a No12 British Army stove which I run on kerosine. All good so far and almost squaddie proof but I probably need to service it more often than I do.

    As for lanterns, I think this just reinforces my love of the good old fashioned Wicky. Not much to go wrong with a tubular lantern other than letting it burn too high and cracking a globe.
