Fixing a Bialaddin

    Well Gentlemen, I reckon this is it, I had to replace the Vapouriser as even with attempting to revive it still didn't work correctly, The mantle cleaned up nicely after the proper operation, again thank you all, Ceud mile Taing!.

    Well it looks very fine now - vapourisers can be a bit of a "lucky dip" - I have had more good than bad ones :thumbup:

    Good morning steerpike451.i have just got a bialaddin 305 lamp do you know how the knob for the control valve comes off does it pull off or unscrew I have tried both and don't want to damage it

    Sorry for late reply, have only just seen your post!
    If it's the original control it will screw on. They can be a pain to get loose; I use penetrating oil, let it soak in, then grip the shaft in a vice using scrap aluminium sheet to protect it and turn the knob with pump pliers using some scrap leather to protect it from marking. It's a normal right hand thread so loosens anticlockwise. Patience, plenty of oil and a certain amount of harsh language seem to help!
    The later push fit style are easy to spot by the retaining screw in the centre of the knob, and equally easy to remove.

    Thank you for the information I will give it a try. I have done plenty of the tilley lamps but this is the first bialaddin lamp I have a new seal kit on the way thank you once again for the information
