Stu - you're right, it is all completely subjective - and I'm with your train of thought - it's all bo$$ocks!! As long as it looks good, stinks of paraffin and blinds you when you look at it, it's alright with me! In terms of falling in love with floodlamps - I'm totally head over heels - the FL6 is one of my favourites; but then I'm only really interested in the industrial stuff anyway!
Stu, here I was rather proud of myself for partially straightening a bent stem on a Coleman lamp.......and i stumbled across this EPIC story of success! You have done far more than show us how a great fettle is done. You have shown us what patience and perseverance truly is. Thank you for sharing. piper
Hi Piper Thanks for the glowing compliment , Neil , Henry & myself at their invite were at the "Ipswich transport museum light up" yesterday evening & in such estemed company with truly superb lamps most of us have never seen in the flesh , l'm glad to say the FL-6 played its part in a fabulously brilliant display 8) . I forgot my camera but Neil took some pic's & i hope you'll see them later in another post. Stu.
Fantastic job on the restoration. Did you treat the inside of the fount? I have steel tilley tank and when I drained the fuel it looked like cloudy orange juice, so i'm guessing the rust monster may have sneaked inside.
