Hood well rescued. Hopefully your intervention has saved it from an early, rusty end. Time to paint :content:

    Metal primer. E0C893FE-FBE2-41F8-85D2-6E6EF32CAB7B.jpeg

    Painted with engine paint.

The paint was then “cut back” and clear coated with automobile enamel.

Tank is now clean on the inside, so it looks like this FL6 will be ready for Ballarat.

    Cheers

Getting there, one observation..... the handle brackets on the back look too bent, they may need easing back up to allow lifting without the lamp falling forwards?? Will be nice to see it running again, although it will have to be a picture - Ballarat maybe a little far to travel without a Passport ;);)

    @KAB

Yes, they are bent. I should have re-set them before painting, but I’ll work on before I do my next bout of painting.

    Cheers

Woot! Woot! We have lift off!

Tank clean; vapouriser etc all working; no leaks...

A bit rough looking, but it’s ready for the Ballarat FL6 light up.

There seems to be a pretty good muster of FL6s turning up; some other very interesting lamps; and some good people coming along.

If the ferry doesn’t sink on the way over Bass Strait, my three Tasmanian-based FL6s should be joining the fray.

    Cheers

    Tony

Edit: I’ll fully assemble this one on site at Ballarat.

I’m giving this thread a bump because I see @Keith Warby is looking for the part I made in for this light.

It can be made with the correct tools, if you can’t find one, Keith. But I’d try The Base Camp first. Give them a call.

    Cheers

    Good work!

The later air tubes were steel so don't have to be brass to work?
