Model designations for lanterns from the Spanish brand FOCUS . When did the "Focus 01" become the ,Focus 08" ? Or were all polished brass Focus models designated "Tipo 01" and all nickel-plated ones "Tipo 08" ? I am also aware of at least two different tank shapes. Are there any documents regarding this,or can we solve the question using the collective intelligence of the forum ?
Hi Reinhard @Reinhard Here is my guess.... In 1943 the company of Padrós y Soler Ltda, Badalona, Spain, got a patent for a single mantle gasoline pressure lantern with a pre heat cup, named Focus 01. Some months later in 1944 they got another patent, and had improved this lantern with a blow torch pre heater and that lantern was an improved version of the Focus 01. A bit later the company launched several other types of pressure lighting and when the lantern with the blow torch pre heater was a succes they named the latest version of that lantern Focus 08. Most of the Focus lanterns I´ve seen have been of the later version with the blow torch pre heater. I think I have never seen one without it and these would be very rare. /Conny
Thank you @Conny C I think the dated patent drawings prove that all Focus lanterns equipp3d with a blow torch preheater must bear the model designation 08. Most of the components of the Focus lanterns endet up changing significantly after all. I am very grateful to you for this clarification. Owners of Focus lanterns around the world have surely read your post and vielen the images with enthusiasm and appreciation . Reinhard
