Just got back from the local Australian hardware store and Shellite now $68.50 (AUD) for 4 litres. Kerosene about $35.00 (AUD) for 4 litres. I looked a couple months back and I thought Shellite was expensive then around the $40 mark for 4 litres. My goodness. Wonder what I can convert to run on Metho ($22 for 4 litres) or LPG?
Most kero lamps wil run on diesel, Diesel now days is mutch cleaner then 40 years ago,no sulfer, and petrol can be used for coleman fuel, no more led in fuel I run my wick lamps on diesel now, gives same light and less smell. Thanks @presscall I like the idea but already a local from the Wimmera, in the west of Victoria has done this: Do a google search for: Wimmera farmer who made his own bioethanol plant The farmer lives near Kaniva and his name is Steven Hobbs and he made about 8000 litres of biofuel to operate his farm. The government here slugged him excise as I recall but the process was he crushed oil seeds, chemically proceesed it and in the end it apparently proved uneconomical so he apparently stopped. He has been a great advocate for on-farm energy facilities.
