For the glass glue, adhesive or coating, is white acceptable? If so, then the following might be of interest:-
Find a local glass blower and have them refuse it, look for one who specializes in borosilicate glass ( they probably make bongs and pipes lol).
Think that’s great that a nine year old is interested in lamps, I ran a Cub Scout pack for 23 years (8-10 years) and made sure everyone could light a Tilley many were fascinated. Hopefully, future protectors of our lamps.
