If I had to do it again I'd make a new hood and get that enameled I think.

That black hood looks good. Do they do other colours?

@Tony Press My plan would be to make the hood in 4 parts.
1/ Top curved cover from exhaust pipe steel tube.
2/ Upper & lower rings from suitable steel solid blank. Machine on lathe to create the equivalent of the rolled rings.
3/ Exhaust pipe tube steel ring to join upper & lower rings. Weld with TIG welder and re-machine the joins on the lathe.

He probably would do other colours, but you'd have to pay more and would have to talk him into it.
