No, Neil - you originate from Cheshire and they're all lovely people. And they make my favourite cheese... :p

Was Cheshire where I lived for the first 20 years but that is now part of Merseyside. We did move out to Thornton Hough though which is the posh bit of the Wirral and indeed Cheshire. Anyway the label is now in place. ::Neil::

I can't say I recall the smithy. Should do because I lived in Thornton Hough for maybe three years around 1961-5 and it was a village we passed through often before that. I do have fond memories of the Wheatsheaf in Raby though. It was a shame when they refurbished it and did away with the serving hatch and installed a bar. Odd thing with memories. I used to know mid Wirral like the back of my hand and Wallasey like a Taxi driver but when I drove round a few years back I recognised everything but could not remember which road went where. Mind you I emigrated to Hertfordshire in 1965 so perhaps not so surprising. ::Neil::

...Yes, know the 'Thatch' at Raby alright.. :) ..Still a very popular watering hole, they must have put the bar in a while back though...I don't remember the hatch......there was a bit of a nickname or joke that you had to go to Moss Bros first...I think this was in the Eighties ?...nice place to call in to on the home for a jar... :content:
